Nick is a practitioner of civil reconnaissance, with experience working on behalf of the US government and its allies around the world.

He created The Ecosystem concept to address two systemic problems:

  • Why are insights into civil considerations not reliably actionable?

  • Why can’t we translate our targeting prowess into strategic results?

These questions drove development of The Ecosystem, as a way to integrate civil reconnaissance into mainstream intelligence collection and analysis.

Nick is the principal of FrontLine Advisory, which he founded in 2011. He has held fellowships with King’s College London and the Modern War Institute at West Point. He holds Ph.D. and M.A. degrees from King’s College London, and a B.A. from Yale University.
